I

I am frontend developer and tech enthusiast

Transitioning from dentistry to software engineering may seem like a leap, but for me, it's been a journey fueled by passion, persistence, and the invaluable opportunities provided by programs like the Andela Technical Leadership Program (ATLP). Despite initial setbacks and moments of disappointment, my unwavering determination led me to ATLP, where I've not only expanded my technical skills but also gained the confidence to pursue my dreams in the tech industry.

  1. How I Learned About ATLP:

Discovering ATLP was a pivotal moment for me. While I've always had a passion for technology, it wasn't until my friends mentioned training programs that I realized my dream of working in tech could become a reality. Despite facing rejection from ATLP four times since 2022, I remained committed to my goal, driven by the belief in my potential to thrive in the tech world.

  2. Why I Joined ATLP:

Before ATLP, I explored other programs like ALX Africa, which provided valuable insights but lacked opportunities for internships or jobs. Joining ATLP in February 2024 marked a turning point in my journey, offering a comprehensive learning experience that surpassed my expectations.

  3. What I Have Learned So Far:

Joining ATLP in February 2024 marked a significant milestone in my journey. Despite having prior knowledge in software engineering and UI design, ATLP introduced me to new concepts such as Figma, Agile Methodologies, and professional communication practices. The hands-on experience with tech stacks like Express, Node.js, and TypeScript broadened my skillset, enabling me to confidently enhance my portfolio website and tackle backend functionalities.

  4. My Plan After Completing ATLP:

After completing ATLP, I'm eager to apply my newfound skills to solve real-world problems. My dream is to work for a leading tech company, where I can contribute to meaningful projects and make a positive impact. I'm excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and the potential to continue learning and growing in the dynamic tech industry.

  5. Message to Future ATLP Aspirants:

To anyone thinking about joining ATLP, don't give up. I faced rejection too, but I kept trying. Keep learning, keep trying, and one day you'll get there. Your journey might not be easy, but it's worth it in the end.
